Life is made up of so many questions. Some have answers, some don’t. Some questions don’t have answers completely while others simply don’t have answers because we look for the answers in the wrong places.
What happens next? Is one question so popular in the minds of many of us. After you’ve done all you know to do, after you’ve cried until there are no more tears to cry? When the tears have run dry? (Reminds me of Boyz II Men – Waters run dry), when you have prayed, infact prayed and fasted, after you have named all the animals God has brought your way and you still can’t find a suitable one for you.
Genesis 2:20 (KJV)
20 And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field; but for Adam there was not found a help meet for him.
Genesis 2:21-23 (KJV)
21 And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof;
22 And the rib, which the Lord God had taken from man, made He a woman, and brought her unto the man.
23 And Adam said, this is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.
There’s always a solution with God. See many at times we forget there’s what we should do as human beings and there’s that which God has to do. Each of us has a part to play.
After Adam had named all the animals God brought to him to name, God caused him to sleep. The bible says in verse 21 “and he slept” He complied.
See this is where I have a problem with many of us. After we’ve done all we know to do and God causes us to sleep, we adamantly resist sleep. We develop an attitude of No God I want to see what you’re up to; I’m so not sleeping unless I know what it is you want to do.
What if Adam refused to sleep? He probably would have jumped from one tree to another and ended up with a chimpanzee or a baboon for a wife. Solution? Maybe. Suitable solution? NO. It was until Adam slept that God met his need with a suitable helper (bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh).
Friends, there’s a place you get in life where you say, you know what God? I have done all I know what to do and it’s in your hands now. You know my need and you know my address. I’m going to sleep.
Go to sleep - Lay it to rest - and Let God.
