The giant 777 Boeing engine came crushing on the runway bringing my thoughts to a halt. I was thinking about life and how 2020 had been that year. It didn’t matter how strong anyone’s faith was, it didn’t matter how learned anyone was, black or white, democrat or republican, rich or poor, we all found ourselves ravaged by the effects of Covid-19 virus. There was no place on the whole planet that one could run to and be safe.
Isaiah 43:2 When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you.
It is not a matter of if you’ll go through deep waters, if you’ll go through the rivers of difficulty or if you’ll walk through the fire of oppression, it is a matter of when. See, the thing I love about faith is that it doesn’t deny facts, and the fact here is that as long as we sojourn this walk of life brothers and sisters, we will face hard times. You can never be too careful on this road called life, but you got to at-least try and drive safe because I submit to you, people will switch lanes on you without a signal.
One of the toughest seasons of this walk of life is when you are passing through the valley of the shadow of death. It is in trials that you look exactly like one who has been abandoned by God. These are those moments that you look less anointed like the glory has just lifted off you and departed. These are the moments when no one believes in you no more, moments when you are misunderstood, misinterpreted, shunned and written off. These are the moments where in the eyes of your accusers you are the last choice. In such moments you got to stay in faith and remember that you are no alone, everyone’s going through a struggle and believe you me, whether you know it or not, there’s someone somewhere watching how you’ll handle it and the result that will come with it. It is for such moments that you remember the words of the classic hymn Through all the changing scenes of life, that, in trouble and in joy, the praises of my God shall still my heart and tongue employ.
It is easy for people to say “let go and let God”, it is easy for people to say “time heals”, it is easy to say “forgive and forget”, it is easy for people to say “never give up in life”. People say all manner things but until someone has walked half a mile in your shoes, then these words remain just that. Words.
Tonight, my dear reader I submit to us that there’s one who didn’t just go half a mile for us, He went all the way. He is the one whom the Bible says is closer than a brother, He is the one who promises to be with us to the end of the age. God has never forsaken His own and you are not about to be the first. So, live your life with some conviction, go through what you go through with the assurance that He is with you. Because
Child of God, You Are Not Alone
