It is so easy to get offended in this life and I don’t know why but the truth is that the people who are so close to us are the ones that hurt us so bad.
The story of Hannah in the bible is such a reflection of the life we live in. See, Child of God, the reason why God would have this story written in the bible is such that you understand you are not the first one to go through what you are going through and you will not be the last one either.
1 Samuel 1:9-10 (KJV)
So Hannah rose up after they had eaten in Shiloh, and after they had drunk. Now Eli the priest sat upon a seat by a post of the temple of the Lord. And she was in bitterness of soul, and prayed unto the Lord, and wept sore.
I don’t know about you friend but the above scripture is a mirror of what I have gone through in the past. I have been in situations where the closest people in my life turned against me. The same people I had coffee with, laughed with and chatted with, secretly formed other chat groups and gossiped about me. The same talked behind my back and provoked me, they posted insane stuff on social media just to taunt me. Until I read 1 Samuel and my eyes were opened. This is life, the more you attract people that love you, the more haters you attract. It is just natural; it is what balances the scales.
See, persecutions, provocation, accusations, mocks, hatred and envy have been there from time immemorial and will continue to be part of life. Haters will always be there. What makes us different is our perception. The question really is what happens after the Peninah(s) have risen up against you? After they have ridiculed you, persecuted you, mocked you, gossiped and spread lies about you, after they have walked away from your life because you don’t fit in their crew, after the Eli(s) have misjudged your pain for being drunk, just what happens?
You know at times it is not that you don’t fit in that clique; the thing is God designed you to stand out. Anytime exceptional people dwell in the midst of ordinary thinking people there will always be an abortion of purpose. Don’t try getting along with ordinary thinking people when God made you to be exceptional
In the bitterness of your soul, in your pain, in your frustration, Child of God arise and take it to God in prayer. He listens; tell Him as it is. How you feel it. The easiest way to avoid offense is to pray. It is either you pray, or you become your adversaries’ prey. See, if there’s a God in heaven who heeds to the prayers of His children, then there must be a people to pray.
God is interested in every little detail of your life; nothing is too small not to pray for. Child of God, your Peninah(s) are not just an opposition, they are your opportunity.
